Application Frequency
Working with nature takes time. You might see results immediately if your plants are weak, other will see increasing results in 6 months or more. The key is to use VermisTerra tea consistently. Every 7-14 days. You can use it more or less often depending on your time, budget, amount of other amendments being used. and how much you want to push your plants.
The longer you use it, the healthier and vigorous you will see your garden becomes. Gardening will be simpler, because healthy plants means time saved. Experience more time to enjoy your plants.
Can I mix VermisTerra Tea with other products?
Yes, you can mix with other foliar spray products like Neem oil, Garlic Barrier, chemical fertilizers or pesticides. VermisTerra Tea will enhance the absorption of these other products. If using other fertilizers or amendments, reduce them by 50-70% the suggested rate. This is because the microbes can accelerate decomposition, and aid in absorption. First, dilute the worm tea with water before mixing with other products. Test a small amount before mixing the full application.
VermisTerra tea works well with other soil amendments, neem, garlic barrier, fertilizers and even pesticides. The pH is 4.3 so mixing it with tap water usually will bring the pH to an optimal level for all other products. You can mix with other products when foliar spraying.
Reduce Raw Materials
If you are using raw materials like compost, wood shavings, bark, guano, manure- take care to reduce these to only 20% of the soil. The microbes in the tea will accelerate their decomposition, turning them into plant food. If you have too much raw material in the soil, they will require Nitrogen to break down and will pull it from the plant causing leaf burn. The plant will recover in 1-2 weeks and bounce back happily, but you can avoid this stress by using less raw material.
Storage
VermisTerra Tea lasts 1-2 years if stored between 40-90 F and kept from freezing. Once you add water to the concentrate, the microbes activate and the solution should be used up within 48 hours. It’s normal for there to be some sediment at the bottom, and small floating white particles (these are bacteria colonies).
Odor
As they say, “The funk brings the flavor”. VermisTerra Tea naturally has an earthy smell to it which dissipates a couple hours after mixing with water and feeding it to plants. VermisTerra Tea should look brown and translucent like coca-cola. It is “bad” if it’s black and cloudy- this is usually due to water being introduced into the bottle. “Bad” tea won’t harm you or the plant, it will just have less microbial benefits.
